"You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know

where you are going, because you might not get there."

- Yogi Berra

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR WINERY IS GOING?

We can help with short and long term planning and vision.  We'll work with you to make sure everyone on your team is on the same page and rowing in the same direction.

Industry experts are clear in their thinking; now more than ever, you need a strong online presence; we can help you implement a manageable and sustainable plan.

We can help you because we've done the hard work ourselves.

When you work with us, we're also going to talk a lot about data. You may have little to no data, or you don't have the right data, or you may even have too much data.

With data, objectivity is key. The right data will not only help you see where you're going, it will also help you see beyond subjective opinions, assumptions, emotions, and ego.

We'll help you collect the data you need, help you to understand what it means, and show you how to leverage it into your short and long-term plans.

DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT

Do you have a solid distribution strategy in place? Is it working the way you need it to? It’s a common – and often challenging - issue. While wine consumers are consistently and enthusiastically engaged in our industry, it's often difficult for wineries to deliver their brand message strategically through a three-tiered system. Wine brands (small and large) often struggle to find the best way to go to market:

  • Small wineries and suppliers struggle to be heard and,

  • Large wineries and suppliers struggle to deliver an authentic story.

Distributors and accounts are inundated with choices, and often they have a hard time deciphering which brands have relevance, and which brands will resonate with their customers.

Bottom line? There has never been a greater need for you to hone in on distributor management and inventory control. Expertise in expediency and decision-making will continue to be critically important to your short-term and long-term distribution goals – we’ll help you define best-fit strategies for your winery.

We know the key players and how they work. We can help you manage all aspects from simple questions to complex decisions.

INVENTORY CONTROL

We’re often asked this simple, yet also complex question: So … How do I find the right balance between sales and inventory?

It’s no secret that the wine industry is in the midst of a world-wide oversupply of grapes and wine inventory; Washington State and Oregon have been hit especially hard. In some cases, the first step is to make sweeping adjustments to fix what is broken, i.e. sell off excess wine. We’ll work with you to build a cohesive plan that
utilizes wholesale and DTC channels, in order to move your excess wine in ways that won’t harm your brand. Once we "right the ship", together we’ll move forward in developing a sales strategy for the future that balances your sales with your inventory.  And, we can teach you how to realistically forecast for the long-term.

DIRECT TO CONSUMER

One thing we know for certain - small and medium sized wineries can no longer wait for customers to come to them via their tasting room or rely too heavily on their wine club.

Why?

  • Tasting Room and restaurant sales are way down due to the Covid-19 virus; it will be awhile before these sources of  revenue improve to pre-Covid levels.

  • Even before Covid, competition for visitors and club members was intense. In Washington State alone, the number of wineries doubled between 2012 and 2020.

  • Boomers, who helped drive the rapid expansion, are now aging out of wine; millennials and gen xers have discovered spirits and craft beer, making for fierce competition.

To meet your DTC revenue goals, you'll need to optimize eCommerce, telesales, virtual tastings, and social media; i.e. you'll need to focus on a variety of new avenues for taking your products to the consumer. With so many moving parts, defining and implementing a simple structure can streamline your decision making, and clarify responsibilities so that everyone's role and accountability is clear.

We can teach you how to leverage a wide variety of tools and find new revenue sources with higher margins.
